What could be more saddening than looking down at your feet while sporting a cute pair of open-toed sandals and noticing unsightly dry heels, ingrown toenails and chipped nail polish. Just pampering your face and body is not enough. It is equally important to take care of your feet to provide some relief to it. Damaged and poorly kept feet is a major no-no, so here we bring you some simple tips to pamper yourself by giving a pedicure to your feet at home at your convenience to enhance your overall beauty and personality.

Step 1: Remove Pre-Existing Nail Polish

Remove pre-existing nail polish from your feet nails, if any, with some cotton dipped in nail polish remover and make sure to get the bits along with your cuticles as well.

Step 2: Soak your Feet

Give your feet a nice foot bath. Fill up some warm water in a tub to cover your ankles and add a bit of bath salt for a plain and simple pedicure. You can also add lemon juice, foot wash of your choice or the drops of essential oil and some smooth pebbles to get a gentle massage, this would make your home pedicure experience turn up a notch. Soak your feet for at least for 10 minutes and then dry them with a towel.

Step 3: Trim & File Your Nails

Clip your nails using a nail cutter in a square shape. Don’t cut corners too deep, it will end up with painful ingrown nails. Use a nail filer to shape the nails.  File in a single direction rather than doing the back and forth motion across the tip of the nail, as it would only weaken them. Wipe off the cuticle cream and gently push back the cuticles with a cuticle pusher.

Step 4: Exfoliate

Rub some cuticle cream on the base of each toenail and leave it for a few minutes. Meanwhile, use a foot scrub to exfoliate your feet and remove all the dry and dead skin cells with pumice stone down the calluses on the heel and ball of your foot sides of your heels and around your toes. Do not scrape too hard. Be firm but gentle. Now wipe off the cuticle cream and gently push back the cuticles with a cuticle pusher. Use a scrub to exfoliate your feet.
